ACB+ innovates in tunnels: tailor-made hanger clamps for a major European project

At ACB+, customer focus and technical adaptation are at the heart of our approach. That's why we've designed a new, tailor-made product: hydraulic tilting and swiveling bending clamps, developed at the request of a major player in the construction industry for a large-scale tunnel project in Europe.

🔧A customer need, an ACB+ response

As part of this project, our customer asked us to design a tool capable of accurately handling support hangers, intended for the stabilization of underground galleries.

These bending clamps were designed to :

  • Adapt to the complex geometry of tunnel sections
  • Orient the benders in all necessary positions
  • Install both central and lateral sections
  • Change jaws to suit different bender profiles: HEB, TH, 3-strand or 4-strand reticulated.

🔍A kinematic study to enhance performance

To guarantee the effectiveness of the solution in real-life conditions, we carried out a complete kinematic study:

  • Validation of the lifting capacity of the equipped machine
  • Verification that maximum tunnel heights can be reached
  • Simulation of possible bend orientations under site conditions

The result: a precise, reliable solution perfectly adapted to the constraints of the site.

🏗️ Optimized technical set-up for tunnels

Two versions have been specially designed for 33-ton tunnel excavators with inclined booms:

  • One with only a 4I / 5I tilting head with 1 cylinder
  • The other with a combination of a 4I / 5I tilting head with 2 cylinders and a Roto+ R11 slewing ring.

The clamps have been fitted with SW66 plates, for mounting on Liebherr couplers.

Thanks to this optimized design :

  • The unit is extremely compact, ideal for narrow galleries
  • Efforts are redirected to the coupler, with the crown only managing orientation.
  • The machine becomes a real, precise and autonomous installation tool.
